NATURE INTERPRETIVE CENTER.
SIERRA CEBOLLERA NATURAL PARK.
VILLOSLADA DE CAMEROS (LA RIOJA).
The dimensions and the shape of this piece of
land, very limited, forced us to keep the external alignment and take maximum
advantage of the cared for conditionof this undeveloped corner of land.
The programme proposes a marked difference
between service and display areas as well as clearly distinguishing the centre
manager´s dwelling as much in the volume as in levels and access. Therefore the idea of dividing markedly the 2
main sections was suggested, distinguished clearly by a central distributor
screen. The first covered the display
area and audiovisual room and the second had 2 levels and was made up of a
service area and a private dwelling on the first floor. The mentioned building was finished off with
simple one sided roofs which were testimony to a powerful construction.
A large sloping masonry wall finishes off the
facade and gifts the ensemble with vigor and personality.
Inside, the great volume of the display room is dealt with following the slope
of the roof as a single inclination which allows the zenith light to reach the
dividing screen and slopes down in a way that makes the room seem bigger.
The service and living building is completed
with a very simple layout so as not to compete with the rest of the
building. Straight, square walls
finished off with a roof that slopes in the other direction towards the large
roof of the other building.
The structure contains cargo walls as a support to those the metal beam on the ground and first floors. The structure of the sloping roof is concluded with wooden arches, frontal roof supports and the laminated wooden channels of the roof, the latter supported in the intermediate walls by means a piece of reinforced concrete which is used to hold the head of the wall in a fixed position.
